Under the midnight sun

Higashino, Keigo (author.). Smith, Alexander O., (Translator). Reeder, Joseph, (Translator). Higashino, Keigo, 1958- Journey under the midnight sun in Great Britain. (Author).

Summary: In Osaka, Japan, in 1973, the body of a murdered man, the owner of a pawnshop, is found in an abandoned building. The person who last saw him alive, a single mother with a shadowy connection to the victim, has an alibi for the time of the murder. Assigned to investigate the crime, Detective Sasagaki hits a dead end, unable to identify and charge the killer. Over the next twenty years, through the lens of a succession of characters, Under the Midnight Sun is the story of the people most affected by the crime: Ryo, the son of the victim; Yukiho, the daughter of the main suspect; and the obsessed detective, Sasagaki, who never stopped investigating the murder, determined to uncover the elusive truth.
